Dinosaur Jr – Farm
[Jagjaguwar, 2009]
genre: alternative underground rock , American rock, indie rock
album review by goresonic
Three years ago, there was the reunion of one of the most historical bands of the alternative underground scene of New York. Then in 2007, they create their first after reunion record named “Beyond”. The album had all the characteristics that made them famous but I think there wasn’t enough energy in it. Now, in 2009 their new record named “Farm” went out.
When I heard about their new record, my first thought was that it could be better for me not to listen to it. What’s the reason? I wanted to remember them as legends and not as some guys that produce records just for money. My second thought was that maybe I had to listen to once at least as an honor to them, and I think I did very well.
Noisy indie guitar start on “Pieces” and Mascis reminds me the reason why I admire them. “Old school” guitar riffs heavy bass and rhythmic drums follow Mascis special grange-punk voice. Then the romantic songs ”I want you to know” and “Ocean in the way”, with Mascis on a more nostalgic and erotic voice.
All the record continues just like that. Mascis wrote all the songs but to be honest my favorite one is the last (good bye) song written from Barlow (“Imagination Bird”). Every song written from him transforms the bands standards.
The big disadvantage of the album is the unnecessary and with no importance guitar solos on “Said the People” and especially on “I Don’t Wanna Go There” that transformed them to very boring songs. Mascis’ guitar passion could be shown in different way I think.
Of course the comparison with the triumph albums “Bug” or “Green Mind” is unavoidable and of course this album is way of that standards but I strongly believe that Dinosaur jr with this one came seriously back in business.

Do you like drone music or modern psychedelic? Do you like bands like Natural Snow Building, Growing, Earth and Wooden Wand? Do you like cold music under a hot burning blanket? Do you like trips and dreams? Do you really like blues under a postmodern manner? If the answer is yes, just stay here… Slow tempos, sand inside your eyes, a desert in front of you and then a high snowed mountain. Rocks and water tumble down. Their music is psychedelic and something like slowcore. Experimental drones and slow motion guitars. I think they produce really good music. They sound to me original and innovative. Great job! Weird, deep, mystic, eerie, this music is uncanny. The album is strange but beautiful and sounds fully inspired. Dark ballads, scary music, closing eyes, slow rhythms and murder atmosphere. From Texas to New York… a trip from the summer to the winter. Hot and cold, scalding and frozen… enjoy and get inside of it. This music is progressive, this album (oh what a great mosaic floor in the cover…!!!) is beautiful.
This is the ninth release from the Finnish band and there has been 2 years of preparations for the ‘Skyforger’. Clearly these guys know what atmospheric metal means because they are among the creators of this genre. And in this album they show us the true meaning of this kind of metal. Skyforger is full of emotions in every part and in every note. Grief, nostalgia, romanticism, sorrow, and many other feelings which anyone can find inside himself. Vocals are clean and harsh mostly but in some parts sound like pure death vocals. In the guitars and drums there is nothing worth of mentioning, they play beautiful and easy. There is a perfect balance between death, atmospheric, folk, and gothic melodies. The keyboards still do the right job. Production is great. I really love this album because it reminds me the days I started listening to metal and that travels me years ago. Recommended to everyone, it is a great choice.
Noisy soundscapes that can thrill your brain. “White Static Demon is a new Justin K Broadrick project for which he has been working on recordings for over one year. Again, like Council Estate Electronics, White Static Demon was inspired by Justin collecting and compiling material from Final cassette releases on his Post Mortem Rekordings label circa 1984-87”( http://justinkbroadrick.blogspot.com/). An album full of extreme noises, drones and experimental electronics. An abstract electro drone distortion. This is extreme and this is experimental. It is a new release which has been inspired by old material. I really enjoy it because it is a noisy ambient trip. Dreamy and gloomy vacations offered to my brain. Jump up and then dive into an extreme and rattle or hooting pool.
The English band’s new release is here to give us what we expected. High speed devilish sick black metal. They follow the same recipe as their previous albums. Barbaric speedy black metal couples followed by melodic death metal refrains. The result is fantastic. In vocals vitriol is just amazing, he just do any sound his throat can make. Shitty sick screams, growls, clean singing, I just love his vocals. In guitars we can hear unstoppable tireless ecstatic riffing. But the most amazing of all are the drums. The speed is just unbelievable. I don’t think there is a human being to play in that speeds live. He will last at most three minutes before he pass out. And I can see why they had Nicolas Barker as a drummer. The thing is that this album is great and not recommended to sensitive ears cause they‘ll surely bleed.
‘God help the girl’ is strongly related with Belle and Sebastian. It’s actually Stuart Murdoch compositions and ideas, written during the last five years and played by assorted members of Belle and Sebastian and an orchestra, and sung (almost all of them) by beautiful women voices.
This is post-rock with a modern approach. Electronica vibes, beats and sounds mixed with guitars’ distortions and rhythm sections. Nice sound and one of the most acceptable post-rock albums of the year.
Jonathan Dakers himself send me an email in order to make his work known to more people through our blog, this is also our politic and our point of view about music promotion and distribution. I have already listened to this album months ago, but I was always delaying this review, that was a mistake. It was a mistake, because it is a great album of drone sounds under a post background. These guys from Auckland, New Zealand make really good music. Ethereal ambient sounds, drones and noises with a post-rock and an experimental attitude. Their music is heavy and sometimes comes close to post-metal and drone doom releases. In general it is an experimental try with an extreme sound profile and excellent distortions and experiments. Some times relaxing others extreme but always beautiful and original.
Instrumental intelligent rock music by five young Japanese guys from Nagoya (Jpn). This type of math rock and this technical style they had in the instruments lends them a clever and interesting attitude and music mode. Psychedelic, groovy and prog sound collage. Dance vibes and hard rock energy. This album is a surprise for 2009, it can attract fans of post-rock and in general, lovers of instrumental music, but also it can be attractive to experimental rock fans, as well as to some math rock and technical metal fans. Their noise and their fuss is in high levels, they do not have a method; they do not follow a beat or a standard pace. They change rhythms and tempo really often and they make some excellent music collages.
“Justin Broadrick has always made music which could one day serve as a soundtrack to the end of the world, should we ever need one. Whether with Godflesh or Jesu [click here for other noiz post about:
Third Art Brut’s Album named “Art Brut vs. Satan” is their debut album at Cooking vinyl record label. Indie rock sounds in a full of energy dance punk album.
Andrew Bird the songwriter/singer and violin player from Chicago creates his fifth solo album. Interesting violin performances, accompanied by his sweet and romantic voice and clarinet sounds, in order to make “Noble Beast”. I cannot say that I was expecting from him to create something better than his previous album “Armchair Apocrypha” and I think this is the reason that he didn’t disappoint me.
I would characterize them as “The last survivors of Britpop”. The 18 years old band is the only one remained from the 90’s Britpop wave and strikes again with their ninth album. Produced from Steve Albini, one of the best producers of our time, “Journal for Plague Lovers” is an album that continues their history. Barbed-wire guitars, rhythmic drums and sometimes aggressive vocals in an album that is produced to honor their lost member Richey James since most of the songs performed here are his. A pleasant album that gives Manic the opportunity to share their feelings with us.
A sludgy post-hardcore from an Italian band. Brutal vocals rotate with clean and give to the atmosphere an alternative color.
This EP is a kind of folk doom, it is not exactly a metal release, it is more an experimental rock something than a heavy sound music, it is instrumental music with strange instruments and a folklore attitude.
This is a Digitalis Limited 2008 release, but back then, it was in an audio cassette version and in a limited edition. This year it comes out in a vinyl release from Dekorder. Two ambient tracks, full of experimentalisms and noises. 40 minutes of trips and dark memories. Track No1 ‘Black Scripture’ is very atmospheric and really experimental, it is a great composition from the band and I think is my favorite. Dark and gloomy, noisy and a bit dreamy. This track is the ambient, chilly part of the vinyl. Track No 2 ‘Gilted Rose’ it isn’t so atmospheric like the previous one, but is more mysterious and really black and scary. There’s a distant black metal style evil vocal that appears to possess your mind. It is recommended to fans of drone, ambient, noise and maybe black metal. It is the dark and black metal part of the vinyl and it can contradict to great dark ambient and atmospheric black metal bands. Great try from the band. Check out the previous releases of them.
That’s the second album for Arcana Coelestia and I can say that I’m quite overwhelmed. This is not funeral doom. It’s funeral doooooooooooooooom. Easily compared with Esoteric but this has a bit more ambient, dramatic tone. Vocals are death groooowls mostly, but you can also find clear ones. In the fifth track there is some Italian talking which lead to true black metal growls coming right from the early 90’s. There are also a few female vocals in this album. Drums are really heavy and really slow. Guitars are slow too. The compositions cause an emotional explosion. Melancholy, darkness, romance, madness, fear all are here together. Pretty amazing work by these guys I believe they are at the same level as Esoteric. And a big applause for the glorious closing track.
I strongly believe that there are some records that you must listen to at the right time under the right conditions in order to like them. That’s exactly what happened to me with field’s new album “Yesterday and today”. As being influenced from their magnificent debut album “From here we go sublime”, the first two-three times I listen to it was a disappointment to me. Then, one summer evening I started to listen to and in the same time I was scanning the sun from my balcony. The music got into me and I felt the summer mood of the album. I imagined sunset in a beach, summer parties and chill-out on a deck-chair near the sea. This album is dedicated to all of us that our business duties don’t allow us to enjoy the summer atmosphere all the months that it lasts.
A dark and cloudy release, a relaxing sound, an ambient music picture, all these together can result this album. The use of German language in the lyrics makes it darker to me and gives to it a folk and traditional dimension. Christoph Ziegler who is the guy behind this project, proves that his inspiration is abyssal or something like bottomless.
After 8 years the Finnish band Arthemesia released a new album. That’s pretty much time to prepare a new album and the result is very good in deed. Their music is atmospheric black combined with dark and depressive melodies pretty easy for anyone to hear. The tempo is slow/mid except the last track ‘Liber Omega’. Vocals are harsh black and in some parts clean dark.
Idyllic music, sometimes with beats and drums others just like a pure melody, an ambient soundscape. Pandora’s Black Book is a project of Lucidstatic, actually is the Alaskan composer James Church. This is a well done album, nice production and an intelligent kind of ambient sounds. A really complicated release flies from dance vibes to experimental passages, and goes through ambient seas to noise cloudy skies. This isn’t a pure ambient album, because there are, as I said, a lot of different sound lines and music origins. I think it is a well composed album and is really interesting and sweet to listen to it in summer days. Electronic experimentalisms from a well established new label with a lot of interesting releases. Quite atmospheric and sometimes high level ambient music can fly you away. In here there is a dream that can be ideal and really beautiful as never before. Enjoy.
A big come back for the Eels, after 4 years of delay and their previous double cd ” blinking lights and other revelations”. Mark Oliver Everett’s band strikes again with this 12 songs album named “Hombre Lobo: 12 songs of desire”. Sweet and intelligent pop melodies with Everett’s characteristic voice is what we listen to in this album. The dance songs are full of happiness and the ballads are really lovable. I cannot say that this album has some points that prove an improvement but that’s not necessary a disadvantage since the 40 minutes album it’s very easy and pleasant listening. As a conclusion, I will mention Everett’s confession on “ordinary man” “I’d rather be alone than try to be someone that I’m not.”
As you can see the cover of the album is pink, but the Vinyl cover is a bit more green-blue (and I think is better). The album is the first full length attempt from the band and it has been captured by engineer/producer Kurt Ballou (Converge, Torche). They sound like Conifer ,Pelican, Intronaut and Mouth of the Architect. Atmospheric creations and a slow motion metal that combines great guitar strings and heavy distortions. They sound fresh but with a connection to old metal roots. Doom metal with a more modern point of view. They are heavier than other bands from post-metal ,Isis alike genre… I think here is their power. Nice music, aggressive and strong feelings and noise background. The album is replete of metal music, noises, heavy distortions and hails! They are good and they can make the difference in this difficult and full of replicates and fakeries genre… they sound authentic and they are original.
Heavy sounds and hot icons… Two progressive and modern post-metal songs and a passage like an ambient/noise, terror experimental…bridge ‘between’ them. The compositions they made are fantastic, maybe they create one of the most interesting sludge metal tracks I’ve listened so far this year. If you like slow post or doom metal bands, with experimentalisms and clever structure here is the band you’re looking for. I really enjoy listening this EP again and again, there something intelligent in their minds. They already support bands like Neurosis, Storm Of Light, Cult Of Luna, Vader and The Ocean, so it is obvious to understand what is their style!! The track ‘Impulse’ is the heaviest, classic sludge, post-hardcore attitude, hoarse vocals and energy, huge energy with a heavy and angry attitude. Fantastic metal! Track number two ‘between’, is a great atmospheric ambient track, full of electronica vibes and noise creepy sounds. ‘Distant Earths’ is a totally different track. It starts like an ethnic myth, like a slow and atmospheric ambient chill out track for lounge bars in a beach and continues with a brit pop attitude which concludes to a doom metal aggressive and black cry. This track is maybe one of the best songs recorded from a band in central Europe the last decades… I think their style change from their last record on 2008, ‘Blindead – autoscopia / murder in phazes’ and they develop a new totally different sound style, a slowcore, an ambient metal, a post-rock myth a new progressive rock with ambient influences, brit heart and a gothic and dark atmosphere. I think they try to open their minds and include in their sound all the genre I enumerate above. Yes they mix a lot of thinks, but the result is excellent, they made it! Follow this band, in their Europe tour with Rosetta, and city of ships. (An Club, Athens, 19/06/1009)
“Crawl Back In” is a Neurosis song from their 2001’s release ‘A Sun That Never Sets’, maybe the most ambiguous release of the band, but, in my opinion, their most atmospheric and psychedelic album. So this first element makes me to sympathy the band from the beginning (as they get influenced to name their band, from a favourite band like Neurosis). Martin from ‘Crawl Back In’ has sent to noiz their new EP, which they are going to release it for free (check myspace page), and to be honest I am very happy for that(he send us). The EP has 3 songs, 3 long-play songs, aggressive, hardcore and dark. The Swedish play an aggressive, hardcore and experimental post-metal. Their metal is influenced by Cult of Luna, Neurosis, Knut and Old Man Gloom, but they have something really dark and shitty inside their compositions. The vocals are excellent and fully experimental. Screams, black metal howls, brutal whines, death hoarseness and experimental squalls. Their rhythm is slow and doomy, and their music structure is scaled. The mix of all these kinds of vocals with the aggressive attitude and the huge riffs from the guitars makes the band really interesting; their sludge metal is quite modern and heavy. I think I will be a fan of them directly.
Strange music in a mathcore way. Intelligent passages and difficult parts. Here is the difference, the Heartland make this heavy, strange and insane music a bit more acceptable and digestible (for the ears). John from the band sent us their album and I found it really interesting. I think their music is really modern and their music structure quite clever. Experimental music with a variety of sounds and melodies(sometimes you can’t use the word melody for them, but anyway). Experimental vocals, screams, death, brutal and emo, clean and clear. Fantastic drum sessions and heavy parts, slow riffs and again speed, acceleration and –core parts. Their music is technical but they are not loosing the harmony and the atmospheres. Nice sounds, aggressive attitude and for sure more melodic than the dillinger escape plan, or other mathcore bands (architecs, psyopous etc). No way to categorise them like that. They promote a death-jazz-experimental and in any way intelligent and technical metal profile. They combine different and difficult genres, they are interesting and you have to give them a try.
As they said in their website: “George Dorn Screams is definitely a band for late evenings. This music is full of sincerity, calm and melancholy. George Dorn Screams is also energy coming from between post rock and slowcore”, and I think I totally agree with that statement. Their music is magic, they use female vocals, and their music is slow, alternative, noisy and at the same time atmospheric and melancholic. There is an energy inside the moody atmosphere, there is an intension behind the melody of Magda Powalisz‘s voice. The band from Poland brings together alternative metal sounds and shoegaze chords. In July 2008 the band recorded the new material to be published on their second album in Elmwood Studio, Dallas, Texas. The recording was produced by John Congleton, (Explosions In The Sky, The Polyphonic Spree, Logh, The Appleseed Cast, The Roots, Pleasant Groove, Modest Mouse). There is a great harmony from the beginning till the end of the album. Note and tunes lie down and fulfill our hearts with beautiful sentiments, they can full my eyes with senses and my mind with desire to think and feel. I try to feel, and this is a great achievement for a band these days, they can make you feel. Don’t drop them like something bad, they need your attention. It is fully atmospheric, slow but noisy indie rock music. Excellent album, a modern rock tear. Fantastic guitars, ost dreams and excellent structure.
‘Balf quarry’ is Magik Markers’ escape from Thurston’s Ecstatic Peace label and their first album for Drag city label. From the first years of their existance, Sonic Youth’s inspiration was obvious in their sound, something that it’s 100% normal for every New York city based noise rock band.
Mara sends us their work and it is a pleasure for us to review it. Black post-metal compositions with dark ambient elements and many samples, it is a kind of depressive black metal with industrial influences. Vocals are black, reminding Leviathan. Production isn’t good but it doesn’t bother me because it gives to their music a cold and dry atmosphere. And don’t forget they have all the excuses for that, no label, no budget, first recording etc… These guys showing that they know how to use all sounds their instruments can create and how to manage samples. On the other hand they are lacking in the composition part. Seems like in this demo they try to cover the shortness of ideas with good sound management. Although I can recognize this as a good first recording attempt and these guys showing good potential. Recommended to ambient black metal fans.
ZAO is one of the bands which made metalcore. They started as a Christian metalcore band (remember that in –core genres the most of the bands follow an attitude or a belief) [straight edge, pagan, vegan, satanism, right wing, left wing etc], but after some members change they are not anymore, as the most of the band members are not considered as Christians anymore. All these years several people take place behind the instruments of ZAO, as I said, but the band keep a unique character and a familiar hardcore metal sound. Brutal vocals rotate with clean and every track has a different –core attitude. Death, punk, metal, post, thrash and heavy tones. This release is an album-compilation of metallic hardcore. There are some routes you have to follow in order to build a core something, and ZAO did it really well. An album for metal heads, an album for head bangers, this release is quite strong and excellent from the music structure side. A metal album that can satisfy everyone who likes hard and heavy music. Awake? is another solid addition to ZAO’s rich catalog. It’s not cracking or impressive, but fans will get everything they expect from a ZAO release.
The story behind the recording of this album is really interesting. From 1999-2001, maudlin of the Well released three albums. These albums seamlessly blend metal, jazz, and prog in a fusion that is breathtaking. However, maudlin of the Well’s avant-garde nature also kept them from being more widely known. They disbanded in 2001, some members of the group going on to form Kayo Dot, a well known avant garde metal band. Yet over the years, through music message boards, forums, and blogs, maudlin of the Well slowly began to pick up a devoted following. In a MySpace blog post in 2008, maudlin of the Well front man Toby Driver mentioned he wanted to record some older songs that were never recorded, but was restricted by financial issues. Response and enthusiasm from fans was massive and a fan donated enough money to record a new album On May 2009 is online and free to download from the internet (there is a donate choice, like in rainbows style).
Progressive metal with female vocals. A modern heavy metal, a great performance and a really interesting music. I was stacked with Madder Mortem back on 2001 when they release ‘All flesh is grass’, a huge album, a masterpiece for the genre, a really aggressive release, a hard and rough metal. I met them back then with that album and I realize that their music is unique and quite complicated or maybe sophisticated. The band from Oslo can approach music and sounds like Tool and Ayreon produce and at the same time can instruct bands like Lacuna Coil, Epica and After Forever. I‘ll dare to compare them with Opeth, I think they are quite similar to them, despite the female vocals. The cover of the album is excellent, and you can find it as a poster in the digipack edition of the album. Extreme music, fantastic guitars, modern and meta-metal inspiration, inspired lyrics, hard sounds, and classic string routes. It is progressive metal, it is not easy to understand it, it is complicated and quite flush. They change the rythms every 1-2 minutes and they produce the most colorfulness metal of the last days. Different kind of moods and atmospheres and a great distorted tone around. “See, it flows so easily, a ruthless piece of art”
Here it is another beautiful album from Amos at the end of the zero’s decade. She wrote, compose and produce the whole album. And what an album!! More than 70 minutes of beautiful music, great compositions, fantastic sounds and excellent voice. On her tenth studio album, Tori Amos writes no less penetratingly than she did on her first about the way women navigate the intersection between sex and power. She is talented and this is obvious. Her work is almost wonderful. A great album for the summer nights and mornings and noons, who cares, feel comfortable, find a cool place and start the record. Epic album. Brit pop, alternative rock and indie sounds mixed with her fantastic voice. And don’t forget to mention that this is the first work of her in her new label, which provides her fully freedom and control of the work and herself as an artist.
Hardcore veterans Coalesce have announced the completion of their first full-length attempt since 1999. The band split up years ago, they had some reunion shows on 2005, they record some tracks on 2007, and at the end they record this album this year (2009). Ox is a 14 songs album, about 35 minutes. Both “Give Them Rope” and “0:12 Revolution in Just Listening” are original hardcore metal albums and some of my favourites from the genre. This year’s release is also on high standards. 012 and Ox are pretty much the same sound and there are a lot of commons between them. There is a difference in the production, but after 10 years a lot of things can change. Pure hardcore metal, some experimental ideas and noisy drum sessions. Coalesce as we remember them. Extreme music from an extreme band, with a modern attitude and a more mature inspirational attribution. there are metalcore elements on the album and some slow parts pretty close to post-metal and post-hardcore genres. A huge welcome back to the band.
Twenty five years of existence. Twenty-five years full of punk rock energy. Their political actions and the way they transformed their music to political movement against American wars are memorable. The way they perform their songs with a funny but loud mood is what it really made them special. Their previous failure with “Wolves In Wolves’ Clothing” didn’t disappointed them and this year NOFX, the symbol of the new age punk, came back in business with “Coaster” and show to everyone why they are that famous.

The album starts with something from Mastodon’s previous releases… and then there are diffused some psychedelic atmospheres and a lot of clean vocals. The album sounds heavy and it is, but in the end there is a softer, more post-rock sound, scattered around. In some parts I can’t believe it is Minsk. I think Grails and some other more psychedelic and experimental bands can be linked there. All this criticisms are not planned to harm the band’s compositions and inspiration. I think the album is more interesting than the previous one, but from another point of view, a bit more alternative and experimental. This is not doom metal like before; this is post-metal, experimental rock, progressive something or just alternative metal. For sure there is a sludge sound inside the noise of the guitars and this is the base of their music structure. Sometimes when I listen to a record and I can’t have a direct opinion for it from the beginning, it results to a great and classic album (for me). I spend days per days to understand this album, and I started to like it after the 10th-15th try. So I think it could be one of my favorite (again). There is a great turn for the band, but maybe is for good. I think this style they have in this work is really interesting and this kind of experimentalism is great and innovative. I also think the title of the release hit the bull’s eye, and maybe there is a definition of their point of view: Echoes from stones…
‘Songs of Shame’ is the forth full length album of this NYC based band, named Woods. The first time I’ve listened to the album I said that this new Woods album is acceptable. Then I started to listen carefully the album and the acceptable feeling was transformed to a lovable sensation.
Sometimes artist’s little comments include the whole spirit that a reviewer is trying to describe. The Heavy Liquid album is dedicated to Lux Interior (lead singer and former of THE CRAMPS) and to Mr. Hunter S. Thompson. If you don’t dig those two you’re probably unable to understand what the LAST DRIVE is about.

Great riffs… I missed pelican, i ‘ve heard their previous release last year, but I miss that energy I found inside this disc. Three great songs, three metal songs, three modern meta-metal compositions.
An excellent ethereal and rhythm release from an Austin based band. They mix all kinds of strings like violin, cello, guitar, banjo, double bass, with piano and more, and they create a collage of sounds. This band is an emotional orchestra. Talented people, create fantastic music. The most of the times instrumental albums is not so commercial, and it is not so attractive to the ears, but these guys create great soundscapes and their work can be more attractive than others. They can intertwine your mind, your soul and your feelings. Their music is quite cinematic and theatrical.
This band has no distributor. They are not in a label, but I think they should be. Electronic post-rock music, ambient sounds and slow motion vibes. Easy listening relaxing music and dreamy compositions. Half an hour of decently and trimly soundscapes. I think their music is quite original, pioneer and innovator. Check them out if you like experimental rock, ambient electronica and lo-fi. This is really modern post-rock by a band from Ukraine. Great job, they deserve some congratulations.
Another ambient trip album. They remind me bohren and dur club of gore. They are similar with the above, but they have a more alternative, indie and dark rock side. Their guitars are murkier. They are so experimental, and they combine darkwave music and post-punk feelings with ambient and emotional sounds. I vote for this album, and it can be a fellow traveler for every night. Sometimes the sound of this album sounds really progressive and other times scary. Dark music and slow tunes. Dusty noises and soundtrack recordings.
Incredible experimental rock music with a punk, post rock and progressive attitude. This album is really interesting and it is the debut full length release from this band. A virtuoso instrument sound and an avant prog sound collage. Accelerated rock speed, noisy percussions and post-hardcore guitars. There is a metal heart deep inside their minds and make their rock more attractive to modern metal fans. A noise rock revolution under the blanket of post-metal and sludge. Sometimes their rock is old school orientated, other times is more modern than anyone else’s tries. This is a great inspired album and a fantastic work from the production. A collage of modern ideas and post-rock future glances. A technical and math rock mosaic. I found their music amazing. High-toned sounds and a noise continuous deformation. Tickling music from happy people. Dance in their tones and feel the hit of the summer… find it among these 11 tracks. After several instrumental post-rock releases, my ears get confused and tired, but this band is quite ahead the others.
Οι Αυστραλοί Austere μ’ αυτή την κυκλοφορία μας δείχνουν πως μπορείς να κλάψεις ακούγοντας black. Σκοτεινό και δραματικό μέχρι τον πάτο. Φωνητικά ξεθαμμένα από In the woods στα πρώτα τους βήματα.
Slackly and without remorse heavy guitar riffs. This band is the British version of Neurosis. Slow motion doom metal and experimental passages. Modern metal and a more alternative seeing of the compositions. Crazy, it is insane, really noisy and industrial metal sound. Ohh my Lord… this is heavy and shitty. Fantastic, huge, unreal, fabled, fancy, incredible ambient metal. They are influenced by Neurosis, but this is the right thing. This is a noisy meta-modern metal. I think this is THE album that I seek for lot of years. A mix of the Angelic Process with Neurosis, Isis and Electric Wizard and a smack of My Dying Bride, Cult of Luna, Corrupted and Cursed, in the end there is a refreshment of Sunn 0))) and Nadja… One of the best crusty hardcore metal releases ever.
