genre: noise pop, melodic pop, adult pop
Album review by goresonic
‘God help the girl’ is strongly related with Belle and Sebastian. It’s actually Stuart Murdoch compositions and ideas, written during the last five years and played by assorted members of Belle and Sebastian and an orchestra, and sung (almost all of them) by beautiful women voices.
What can I say about this album? The entire music organs that are used (including violins, pianos and saxophones) are perfectly “collaborated” with all the different sweet women vocals (especially Catherine Ireton’s PERFECT pop voice who sings most of the songs). The album travels back to the 60’s and sometimes sounds like a girly pop band and other times like a 60’s soul band (especially on “Funny Little Frog”). It’s an album to falling in love with.
I believe that we maybe found the pop album of the year.
