I strongly believe that there are some records that you must listen to at the right time under the right conditions in order to like them. That’s exactly what happened to me with field’s new album “Yesterday and today”. As being influenced from their magnificent debut album “From here we go sublime”, the first two-three times I listen to it was a disappointment to me. Then, one summer evening I started to listen to and in the same time I was scanning the sun from my balcony. The music got into me and I felt the summer mood of the album. I imagined sunset in a beach, summer parties and chill-out on a deck-chair near the sea. This album is dedicated to all of us that our business duties don’t allow us to enjoy the summer atmosphere all the months that it lasts.

This is the second colaboration between Miss Kittin and the Hacker. A typical dance-techno album with Miss Kittin’s vocals that didn’t surprise me at all. Although this doesn’t mean that it is a bad album.Not at all. From the first song you get the dancing point with the atmospheric
and noizy track “the worb”. After that the mainstream “1000 dreams” the song that will be heard a lot this year in the main dance clubs. “Pppo” continues in a more experimental way. “Indulgence” is the most heavy song of the album for crazy dancing nights. I think this one could be better heard in live performances. The next one (“Emotional Interlude”) is the one in which Miss Kittin proves how adorable her voice is. The surprise of the album is the cover of Elvis’ “suspicious minds”. So good cover, so nice to hear an electronic version of this legend song.Finally “Inutile eternite” where we are listening Miss Kittin singing in her native language (French) transforming the song to a sexy erotic one. “Two” as I said before it’s not something new but definetely brinks back a music type that has to be reborned.

This band is a modern act of 80’s music which presents a new kind of pop music with a hardcore and experimental mantle. Their music is up lifting, their tracks are dance tracks, their vocals are lovely (sometimes are quite harsh), their compositions are funny and the result is a new kind of electronica dance music. In my opinion is very interesting, I cannot be a huge fan of the band but for sure I can dance with these tracks and I recommend this album to people who like electro dance, experimental, and post hardcore bands. Nice music and compositions which reminds me my youth and pop hymns of the past. They try to do it and they made it. They mix guitars, synths, samples and computers and they made an experimental music which is easy listening and cosy. This band synch our lives.

The Prodigy are alive. Back from the graveyard. after ‘the fat of the land’ this is a resurrection. 10 years later but still pure and powerful. Again with Keith and Maxim on the vocals. Recorded in their own label ‘take me to the hospital’. Great beats and old fashion dance techno music. I become younger, I remember my youth. I feel the energy. I can dance till the end of the album, and I just press repeat to keep the spirit alive. “Omen” reminds me something from “no good” and “voodoo people”. I can’t believe the energy of this release. This album is great. I enjoy the beats soooo much. “Thunder” strikes me down. Unreal experimental dance music. Fantastic sound production. This track is the new “their law” or “fire”. Rock smell and Grohl on the drums. “Colours” is extremely intelligent and it can push you violently to the dance floor. “Take me to the hospital” shouts everybody is in the place, loudly. “Warriors dance” mix pure 90s rave with psychedelic vibes. Vocals from 80s pop dance hits and an old atmosphere. You got to “run with the wolves” with a dance punk midlands fear. The release set world on fire. RATM from Liam’s machines. “Piranhas” “stand up” just to dance and bring the party to an end.A synth brit pop hit to close this diamond after the bloody teeth of the shark.

Debut album from Brooklyn’s duo Telepathe.This album started to become interesting from its recording since Tv on the radio’s Dave Sitek was producing it, his bandmate Kyp Malone and !!!’s Shannon Funchess provide guest vocals on it. The result is a typical electro-pop album with Melissa Livaudais’ beautiful electro-pop voice.
The music part sounds good and in my opnion, especially the electronical samples are the work of a pure electro-pop knower. Although I think that this album has the classical problem of its genre. It cannot overpass itself and become something special. It’s just a good album and that’s it.

Δυο Παριζιάνοι, ο Gaspard Augé και ο Xavier de Rosnay, παίζουν με την μουσική και τον θόρυβο από το 2003. Παράγουν σεισμική μουσική που προκαλεί ναυτία. Χωρίς όνομα και τίτλο στο εξώφυλλο παρά μόνο ένα σταυρό, δε γαμιεται. Αν αυτό το εξώφυλλο βλέποντας το κανείς, καταλάβει ότι έχει να κάνει με έναν dance δίσκο, τότε θα μιλάμε για έκπληξη. Παρολαυτα μου θύμισαν τους daft punk, τους οποίους έχω καμιά δεκαετία να ακούσω…

Disco, dance, electro house και techno με μια υποψία arena rock στην παραγωγή!!! Party για νέους και τίποτα παρακάτω. Εκπληκτικά τραγούδια που σου φτιάχνουν τη διάθεση. Σου ανεβάζουν το κέφι. Ανελέητα beat που πρέπει ν’ ακούγονται τέρμα! Συνθέσεις που σου ταρακουνούν το μυαλό. Γνήσιες και ανόθευτες μουσικές. Ποικιλία στα όργανα και στην παραγωγή της μουσικής. Θόρυβοι και μελωδίες που μπλέκονται με minimal noise ήχους και σπέρνουν την ενεργεία ολόγυρα. Πειραματικό ή καθορά αγνό και απλό; Ευκολοπεπτο αλλά και πρωτότυπο. Για να σε δω να χορεύεις! Όσο και να προσπαθήσεις προβλέπω ένα εύκολο ξεβίδωμα στα δέκα πρώτα λεπτά. Κόβεται ο ρυθμός απότομα, όχι για να σε ξενερώσει, αλλά για να σε βάλει στο δικό τους κόσμο. Η φαντασία σου πρέπει να παντρευτεί με την δικιά τους και ν’ ανοίξεις τα αυτιά σου διάπλατα. Άνοιξε και τα χεριά, κλείσε τα ματιά και φέρνε σβούρες μέχρι να ζαλιστείς. Όταν ξανανοίξεις τα ματιά σου σίγουρα θα δεις ρομποτακια να σε έχουν περικυκλώσει και να σου ζητούν μια αγκαλιά. Άγχος λίγο πριν το τέλος, μερικές δόσεις δυνατού headbanging και ένα νανούρισμα για το μυαλό. Εντάξει, ξαναβάλτε να παίξει από την αρχή γρήγορα. Εδώ είναι το μέλλον της μουσικής. Εδώ παίζονται όλα. Έχει απ’ όλα ο μπαξές… Παρτουζα στ’ αυτιά, στο μυαλό και στη ψυχή.

Κάτσε γιατί μου χτυπήσαν το κουδούνι κάτι μπάσοι, ηρθαν για παρατήρηση πάλι…

Το πιο άρρωστο αλλά και πιο σύγχρονο και εναρμονισμένο με ήχους της εποχής μας άλμπουμ των τελευταίων ετών. Η μπαντα αυτή έχω την εντύπωση ότι ζωντανά θα είναι κάτι το ασύλληπτο, δεν ξερώ γιατί το λέω αυτό αλλά οι μουσικές τους και η ενεργεία τους μου λένε ότι το χουν και με το παραπάνω…
Εδώ έχουμε να κάνουμε με τον ορισμό του Avant-rock και εννοώ: math, space, prog, dance, experimental, electronics, kraut, noise, art, indie και post κεντημένα όλα μαζί πάνω σε ένα κατάλευκο σεμεδακι, σαν αυτά που έβαζε η γιαγιά μου πάνω στην τηλεόραση… Το παίρνεις το βάζεις μπροστά σου και το κοιτάς. Μετά από μια ωριτσα είσαι ακόμα εκεί και το κοιτάς σκαλωμένος. Το αναποδογυρίζεις , το ψηλαφίζεις , το μυρίζεις και διαπιστώνεις ότι όντως είναι κατάλευκο και πεντακάθαρο. Έλα όμως που αυτό το κέντημα έγινε με την δυσκολότερη ραφή. Είναι σαν πρόβλημα μαθηματικό, σαν μια εξίσωση που σου γαμά την ψυχολογία. Είναι ένα μαγικό , εξωγηινο και ρομποτικό σεμεδακι. Μα δεν μπορεί να είναι έτσι απλό και άσπρο όταν διαπιστώνεις ότι η μπαντα φτιάχτηκε από μέλη άλλων συγκροτημάτων που έπαιζαν και παίζουν από noise, post, math και alternative μέχρι hardcore και metal (βλ. Don Caballero, Storm and Stress, Lynx, Helmet, Tomahawk, The Mark of Cain, Sludgehammer ) Οι συνθέσεις στο δίσκο είναι γαμημενα διαστροφικές. Δεν σε κουράζουν καθόλου παρά μονό σε σκαλώνουν. Χορευτικές, πειραματικές και άρρυθμες. Ατμόσφαιρα χαοτική. Φωνητικά φρενήρη και ασυνάρτητα παραμόρφωνα κατά σημεία. Τα τύμπανα σε πετάνε από metal δίκασες μπότες , μέχρι beats και breaks που θα άκουγες σε techno μουσικές. Ακούμε το μέλλον. Ιδέα δεν έχω κι ακόμα προσπαθώ να καταλάβω πως κατάφεραν κι έφτιαξαν αυτό το αριστούργημα. Από το πρώτο μέχρι το τελευταίο δευτερόλεπτο απορείς και ψάχνεσαι. Γουστάρεις και ξαφνιάζεσαι. Περαστέ μια βόλτα από το myspace τους γρήγορα και μην κάνετε το λάθος και τους προσπεράσετε.

Οι !!! μπορεί να γράφουν για την Warp ( γνωστή δισκογραφική που προωθεί ηλεκτρονική μουσική) , αλλά είναι μια rock μπάντα. Το Myth Takes είναι ένας ευχάριστος δίσκος που καταφέρνει να σε ανεβάσει ότι ώρα κι αν τον ακούσεις. Έχει φανταστικούς ρυθμούς και επινοεί νέα μουσικά είδη. Μπλέκει την disco με το rock, το experimental με το post-punk, το funk με την electronica και την dance με την noise και το dub. Σαν πολλά δεν ακούγονται? Όχι , αν μπλέκονται πολύ ας το ονομάσουμε dance-punk κι ας τελειώνουμε με τους τίτλους!!! (έβαλα τρία θαυμαστικά για προφανής λόγους!!! [πάλι]). Κάθε κομμάτι έχει τον δικό του ρυθμό. Κάθε σύνθεση έχει την δικιά της διάθεση, πάντα ανεβασμένη. Είναι δίσκος για πάρτι. Έχει κέφι και ανακατεύει τους Ozric tentacles, τους LCD Soundsystem , τους Liars και αλλά λιγότερα γνωστά group που μπλέκουν το rock με την dance μουσική, δεν υπονοώ ότι επηρεάζονται από αυτούς απλά προσπαθώ να δώσω παραδείγματα του ήχου τους. Στις επιρροές τους ας πούμε θα μπορούσαμε να βρούμε ακόμα και τον Prince!!! !!! όποτε ας αφήσουμε αυτή την κουβέντα. Οι ιδέες τους είναι θαυμάσιες. Αυτή τους η κυκλοφορία είναι η πιο ώριμη που έχουν παρουσιάσει ποτέ. Η μουσική είναι για να διασκεδάζουμε, με οποία έννοια αντιλαμβάνεται την διασκέδαση κανείς. Οποίος διασκεδάζει χορεύοντας και οποίος γουστάρει φρέσκιες ιδέες, ας τους ακούσει γρήγορα.
Τους περιμένουμε στην Αθηνά, στο synch festival, http://www.synch.gr/ . Εκεί πιστεύω τα συμπεράσματα μας θα ολοκληρωθούν για το ποιόν τους.

Ένα καλό πάρτι πάντα ξεκινάει αργά.Έτσι και η συναυλία των LCD στη σκηνή του Astoria ήταν late show για τα αγγλικά δεδομένα. Εισιτήρια και για τις 2 προγραμματισμένες συναυλίες τους δεν υπήρχαν ούτε για δείγμα.

Ο χώρος του Astoria την στιγμή της άφιξης μου ήταν γεμάτος από άτομα αποφασισμένα να χορέψουν μέχρι τελικής πτώσεως. Στις 10 τα 5 μέλη των LCD εμφανίστηκαν στη σκηνή και έδειξαν από την αρχή τις διαθέσεις τους με μια φοβερή εκτέλεση του Us vs them και το πάρτι ξεκίνησε(μέρος του κομματιού στο http://www.sendspace.com/file/1wztvu ).Ο κόσμος ούρλιαζε από χαρά και από διάθεση για χορό. Αμέσως the Daft punk is playing in my house και το πάρτι ξέφυγε! Ο James Murphy είχε τρομερή όρεξη να μας διασκεδάσει και το έδειχνε σε όλους.Η ικανότητα του επίσης να αλλάζει τον τόνο της φωνής του από ψηλή σε μπάσα πραγματικά με εντυπωσίασε! Η γιαπωνέζα της παρέας,Nancy Whang, τον συνόδευε με τον καλύτερο τρόπο στα φωνητικά και σε συνδυασμό με την εμφάνιση της βοηθούσε στην σκηνική παρουσία του group. To live συνεχίστηκε με την ίδια ένταση και με τον ίδιο ρυθμό.Κομμάτια και από τους δύο δίσκους τους ακούστηκαν με τέρμα τα γκάζια και την ένταση του ήχου.Μετά από μιάμιση ώρα περίπου αποχώρησαν και παρόλο που μας είχαν εξαντλήσει, όλοι σφύριζαν και απαιτούσαν να ξαναβγουν.Οι Lcd δεν μας χάλασαν το χατίρι και εμφανίστηκαν για 2 κομμάτια τα ιδανικότερα για να ηρεμήσουμε κι εμείς και αυτοί και για να τελειώσει ομαλά το πάρτι.Someone great και New York I love you but you’re bringing me down κομμάτια που σε κάνουν να σκεφτείς ότι αν η κανονική ζωή περιέχει μόνο μερικές στιγμές ευτυχίας και χαράς τέτοιες συναυλίες είναι μέρος αυτών. Έφυγα από το Astoria εξαντλημένος και κουφός αλλά πλήρως ικανοποιημένος.
